We are dedicated to using as many low impact materials and natural fibres as we can, and we try to source from companies within our country as much as possible. We are proud to be able to produce over 60% of each collection within Canada and continue to push further.

Our goal, is to empower women with clothes that they will reach for time and time again.

Want to learn more? Our Toronto studio is open by appointment so you can meet the team, shop & see where the magic happens.

At Hilary MacMillan every collection is designed, developed and sampled in-house at our Toronto based studio. We are a small female founded company, we ensure everyone is paid a living wage. Each season our internal and Canadian design teams ensures our products meet brand standards, allowing us to seek seasonal manufacturing locally in Toronto of over half our collection.
Currently, we split manufacturing between Canada and China. Every product sold and produced is labelled, and all those Made in Canada are marked as such. All our off-shore Chinese production takes place in two factories which we have worked hard to build strong relationships with. We only produce with manufacturers aligned with our standards, and with those which are transparent about their processes. The factories we work with in China must qualify for the SA8000 Standard certification, be Bureau Veritas certified, be audited yearly, and be available for site visits.
We use as many low impact materials and natural fibres as we can, and we try to source from companies within our country as much as possible. We sell off our deadstock and try to re-use it in sampling and avoid it going to a landfill and minimize textile waste. We Repair any customer repair of ours, offer custom designs, have sample & damages sales and offer alterations.

At Hilary MacMillan, we try to be as transparent as possible about our process. If you have any questions please email us at info@hilarymacmillan.com and we will be more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have.

We are a fully female owned & operated company. We pay our employees a real wage, above minimum wage, with yearly increases and offer benefits. We offer seasonal internships to give back to our community and help young designers learn the business. We are able to do all of this through your support of our brand.
Women's empowerment, issues and charities are our commitment and we intend to always support and use our platform to draw attention to organizations, causes, events and initiatives which lift up womxn from all communities.

Over the years some causes that have stood out to us are:

Toronto based charities Up With Women & Black Women in Motion, in which sales of our Varsity Jacket Collection we've donated to
(https://blackwomeninmotion.org/our-story (https://upwithwomen.org.)

A portion of sales of Pride Masks for the month of June were donated to The 519 Community Centre. Their work, resources, support and space for the LGBTQIAP2S communities is incredible and our neighbourhood would be lost without them. If you wish to donate you can learn more here
